Iraqi Delegation’s Visit to ASM
Rockville, Maryland (Thursday January 29, 2015) — ASM had the pleasure of hosting a distinguished Iraqi delegation visitors who were invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. Their program was arranged by Meridian International. The World Trade Center Institute administers the International Visitor Leadership Program in Maryland on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. The objective of the program is to connect international visitors with American professionals to share best practices in particular fields to increase mutual understanding.
The delegation consisted of 8 energy industry professionals from Iraq. They came to Maryland on a project titled “Building an Energy Industries Workforce” which they hoped to gain insight into the energy industry. The Department of State expressed an interest to introduce the delegation to ASM Educational Center to gain insight into its workforce development program for oil and gas industry professionals.
The participants were greeted by Persian pastries, assortment of fruits, and other refreshments. The founders of company including President of ASM, Mrs. Ency Moghaddam personally welcomed each of the delegation members to ASM. It was a great day of sharing best practices. All the participants were eager to learn and extremely attentive.
It was great to have hosted this delegation which many of them are already influential leaders in their field of expertise in their own country. This delegation of 8 comprised of 2 PhD’s and distinguished members of Academia, Government and Private Sector which included :Chief, Chemistry Department, Hilla Textile Factory; Senior Engineer, Ministry of Industry and Minerals ; Senior Engineer, Ministry of Oil ; Senior Chief Engineer, Ministry of Electricity; Assistant Professor of Petroleum Technology, University of Technology; Chief Engineer and Quality Control Director, Hilla Textile Factory; Human Resources, British Petroleum ; Lecturer in Chemical Engineering, University of Technology ; Manager of Electrical Department, Khor Azubair Vocational Training Center, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
The participants were very surprised to learn about ASM’s International Students Program which ASM is authorized under Federal law by the US Department of Homeland Security (SEVP: Student Exchange Visitor Program) to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. Learn more!
