Database Management

The purpose of the Certificate in Database Management is to provide students at our academy of information technology an opportunity to learn the theoretical and practical foundation concepts of the relational database and SQL. The Oracle relational database security query language SQL Plus, set through the latest version of Oracle will be discussed. This program will then re-enforce basic Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. Students will have opportunities to consolidate concepts, as well as develop complex SQL statements and PL/SQL programs.

CIS 315 – Oracle SQL I

Prerequisites: None

This course is an introduction to Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL). Topics covered include conceptual definitions, features, functions and syntax, Student will understand the tool for database development and gain practical experience in using these tools.

CIS 325 – Oracle SQL II

Prerequisites: CIS 315

This course is a continuation of Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL). Topics covered include conceptual definitions, features, functions and syntax. Students will understand the tools for database development and gain practical experience in using these tools.

CIS 415 – Oracle PL/SQL I

Prerequisites: CIS 325

This course will enable students to understand and apply complex PL/SQL coding techniques in business information technology environment. Topics covered include Oracle database architecture and the use of Oracle in the client server and Web environments.

CIS 425 – Oracle PL/SQL II

Prerequisites: CIS 415

This course is a continuation of CIS 415. This course will further enable students to understand and apply complex PL/SQL coding techniques in business information technology environment. Topics covered include Oracle database architecture and the use of Oracle in the client server and Web environments.
